Tia Bell, Deandre Russell, and Nurrie Foy died as a result of two separate acts of violence in the city of Chicago earlier Thursday evening. These fatal shootings occurred within the East Garfield Park area.
Three individuals lost their lives following two distinct shooting incidents that transpired on Thursday night in the vicinity of East Garfield Park, Chicago. One of those killed was a 27-year-old female.
The initial violent incident took place around 10:09 p.m. at a location in the 300-block of South Maplewood Avenue. According to law enforcement, two male individuals were positioned outside. A male suspect then approached on foot, produced a firearm, and fired shots in their direction. Both victims sustained injuries and were taken to hospital facilities where they were confirmed deceased.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the two victims from this first shooting as Deandre Russell, who was 38 years old, and Nurrie Foy, aged 28. Further details regarding these men were not immediately released.
A second shooting occurred approximately 10:47 p.m. in the 3900-block of West Gladys Avenue. Police reported that a 26-year-old male and a 27-year-old female were outside the premises when a male suspect approached, drew a gun, and fired at them. The 27-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Her condition was confirmed fatal shortly after arrival. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Tia Bell. Information shared through online fundraising efforts indicated that Bell had nine children left behind.
