Marietta Police announced they have identified the individuals involved in a fatal shooting at a Chevron gas station located on Franklin Gateway Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect, identified by police as 24-year-old Johnathan Bailey from Savannah, is being held on charges related to the incident, confirmed Officer A. Wright, serving as the Marietta Police Department spokesman. Bailey is accused of fatally shooting Joshua Walker, who was 34 years old and lived in Dacula.

According to the police statement, officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 4 p.m. following reports that shots had been discharged at 1200 Franklin Gateway SE. Wright explained that detectives began working on the case late Tuesday, conducting interviews and gathering evidence throughout the night.

Their preliminary findings indicated an altercation occurred between Bailey and Walker early on the day of the incident. Further investigation revealed the men then traveled to the Chevron station at 1200 Franklin Gateway SE, where they resumed arguing. This confrontation culminated in the fatal shooting reported that afternoon.

Wright confirmed Bailey was taken into custody and transported to the Cobb Adult Detention Center. He faces serious charges, including felony murder, stemming from the incident.
