Investigators identified the deceased individual, Kamico Boykin, who was 23 years old, following the incident. Deputies arrived at the scene around 2:45 a.m. Friday in the 2100 block of North Kalsman Avenue, close to Centennial High School, after receiving a call about gunfire. According to an official statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the victim was taken to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead there. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her identity on Wednesday. The sheriff’s department did not release further details about the victim or any potential suspects at that time. A news reporter documented a scene outside Lynwood hospital where a woman with what appeared to be blood on her clothing was seen. This woman was speculated to have assisted in transporting the victim to St. Francis Medical Center. It was reported that the California Highway Patrol was informed after the shooting about the victim’s transport in a gray Hyundai Elantra.
