MYRTLE — In a tragic two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 12, William McDonald, an 80-year-old resident of Peck, lost his life. According to Nez Perce County Coroner Josh Hall, who identified the remains, the accident occurred approximately one week prior.
The incident involved McDonald operating a 2025 Subaru Forester. Tragically, his vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and collided directly with a 2024 Ford Bronco driven by a 55-year-old woman from Lewiston. The Bronco driver and McDonald’s 80-year-old female passenger were both transported to a medical facility for evaluation following the crash.
The severe collision resulted in a fire spreading from the damaged Ford Bronco. Highway 12 remained closed for approximately four hours as emergency services addressed the situation and extinguished the flames. The accident occurred at approximately 4:11 p.m. about 17 miles east of Lewiston.
