Fatal Tucson car crash death of Georgia Ann Chavez
Investigators with the Tucson Police Department reported a fatal collision occurred on the early morning of Saturday, August 30, in the 2800 block of North Campbell Avenue.
The 58-year-old passenger, Georgia Ann Chavez, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her 44-year-old companion, driving the vehicle, received serious injuries and was taken to Banner University Medical Center for treatment.
According to police records, the vehicle involved was a silver 2004 Nissan Armada. It was traveling north on Campbell Avenue when it inexplicably crossed into the southbound lanes, departed the roadway, and collided with a utility pole.
Preliminary findings indicate the driver failed to keep the vehicle within its lane and drove off the road, which were the primary factors contributing to the incident.
