Fatal Minneapolis shooting death of Jermaine Jabaar Typray Barker
The official medical examination by Hennepin County authorities confirmed earlier this week that Jermaine Jabaar Typray Barker, who was 35 years old, passed away due to several gunshot injuries. His body was found in the downtown area of Minneapolis on the morning of Tuesday.
Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department reported that a single shooter attacked a small group of people standing on a sidewalk around 2:10 a.m. on August 27. The fatal shots struck Jermaine Jabaar Typray Barker near the intersection of 8th Street North and Hennepin Avenue. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, but were unable to save Mr. Barker. A companion was also struck by gunfire but suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment at a hospital.
The county’s medical examiner has officially classified Mr. Barker’s passing as a homicide incident. Further investigation is currently being conducted to determine the precise details surrounding the attack.
Mr. Barker, who legally resided in Rochester, was well-recognized within his community by the endearing nickname “Pooh.”
The ongoing criminal investigation by the Minneapolis Police Division has not yet led to any public identifications or apprehensions of those potentially responsible for this violent act.
