Fatal northeast Columbus shooting death of Rene Villanueva Soto
Police have confirmed the identity of a 37-year-old man who lost his life following a reported gunfire incident occurring in the early hours of Sunday morning within the northeast section of Columbus. Responding officers were dispatched to the area encompassing the 700 block of Stelzer Road, situated close to East 7th Avenue, at approximately 3:30 a.m., due to the initial call regarding a shooting.
Upon their arrival at the scene, the responding personnel observed two individuals who appeared to have sustained injuries from gunfire. Both injured persons were subsequently transported to Grant Medical Center for medical treatment. Tragically, one of the victims, identified as Rene Villanueva Soto, was pronounced deceased shortly before 4 a.m. The condition of the other reported gunshot wound victim is reported to be currently stable by hospital authorities.
