A tragic fatality involving a motorcycle occurred Saturday evening in Long Beach, resulting in the arrest of the SUV driver for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. The fatal incident took place around 9:01 p.m. on August 30 at the intersection of 11th Street and Redondo Avenue.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision involved a 2010 KTM motorcycle traveling south on Redondo and a 2006 Toyota Sequoia moving east on 11th Street. Long Beach Fire personnel arrived at the scene but pronounced the motorcyclist deceased. Initial reports from the fire department mistakenly identified the rider as female, but police later confirmed the identity of the deceased as 37-year-old Roberto Barraza, who was a resident of Long Beach.

The fatal multi-vehicle accident caused the closure of the 405 Freeway in the Sawtelle area. Police are investigating potential impairment as a contributing factor to the collision. The driver of the Sequoia, identified as 33-year-old Frank Andrade Jr. of Long Beach, remained at the scene and provided information to the authorities. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the system on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. Bail was set at $101,781.
