Compton law enforcement secured three individuals suspected in a fatal shooting incident that concluded in a residential area near Compton. The apprehension followed a high-speed vehicle pursuit initiated after the suspects allegedly opened fire on officers.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records indicate that Aaron Hammer, identified by the Medical Examiner’s office, was the victim. Hammer sustained gunshot injuries following an altercation on South Long Beach Boulevard on Tuesday, August 27th, at approximately 10:40 p.m.

Initial reports confirmed that deputies encountered a vehicle carrying three suspects on the westbound Artesia (91) Freeway. After initiating a pursuit, the suspects managed to exit the freeway at Central Avenue and subsequently drove to the vicinity of 139th Street and Parmlee Avenue, abandoning their vehicle.

During the pursuit, the suspects disregarded a marked police vehicle and fired multiple shots towards the pursuing officers. While no deputies were reported injured, their patrol car was struck by stray bullets.

Once the suspects exited their vehicle, authorities established a security perimeter in the 14100 block of South Zamora Avenue, located in a small unincorporated community adjacent to Compton. Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau units eventually apprehended the suspects at approximately 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28th.

Forensic examination of the suspects’ vehicle led investigators to recover three firearms classified as assault rifles. As of the latest update, no official identification of the suspects, including their names, ages, or genders, has been released.
