State police in Virginia are actively seeking the suspect following a deadly highway shooting. This incident occurred on Tuesday, escalating the search as authorities released images of the accused individual and their vehicle, requesting public assistance.
The 19-year-old suspect identified by Virginia State Police is Jason Allen Glidewell. Law enforcement has issued a warning to consider him as a person of interest who may be armed and dangerous.
The fatal shooting transpired on Thursday afternoon along Interstate 85 within Mecklenburg County, approximately five miles from the Virginia-North Carolina state line, as confirmed by the state police in a statement.
Investigators are currently examining the possible reasons behind the shooting incident.
The individual pronounced deceased was 20-year-old Hunter A. Bates, originally from Colonial Heights, Virginia. According to state police, Bates was driving in the northbound direction on Interstate 85 when he was shot around 3:47 p.m.
Following the shooting, Bates’ automobile deviated from the main roadway and eventually stopped in a culvert, reported police.
Hunter A. Bates was confirmed dead at the scene. His female companion, whose name has not been disclosed, received medical attention at a nearby hospital and was subsequently released.
