Local authorities have officially identified the motorcyclist killed in the Woodford County incident. Michael Eddy, a 53-year-old resident of Peoria, was pronounced deceased at 1:26 a.m. on Tuesday following the accident.

Deputies from the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene on Monday at 5:30 p.m. They responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision on Route 26. Upon arrival, they discovered three motorcyclists traveling southbound together. The lead rider crossed the center line without explanation and collided with a Toyota Highlander.

Michael Eddy, the rider on the motorcycle, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. Emergency services transported him via helicopter to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, but he was unable to be saved.

The second motorcycle involved in the accident experienced damage from flying debris and its rider suffered serious injuries. The driver of the third motorcycle remained unharmed. Inside the Highlander, two individuals in the front seats were treated for minor injuries at a medical facility. The status of the two occupants in the rear of the vehicle was not immediately available.
