The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that Mr. Richardson, who was 73 years old, lost his life when his vehicle departed the road. The accident happened around 9:15 a.m., located east of Bovina along U.S. Highway 60.

Law enforcement officials stated that the semi-trailer truck, which was a 2024 Freightliner pulling a semi-trailer traveling westbound, veered off the highway for an unknown reason. The truck crossed the center divider, moved into the oncoming eastbound lanes, and eventually drove off the road, landing in a ditch. It subsequently collided with a structure associated with the railroad crossing.

Mr. Richardson was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other individuals involved in this incident sustained injuries. The weather conditions at the time were described as clear and dry, and the posted speed limit was 75 mph. The Texas Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation into the cause of this fatal accident.
