State authorities have officially named the three people who perished in an intense blaze that ravaged a multi-vehicle collision on a major highway in the region. The incident took place during the recent weekend and involved several cars, resulting in a tragic outcome.

The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at a specific spot near mile marker 61 on Interstate 64, positioned between the Midway and East Frankfort service areas in Woodford County. According to state police, the crash involved four large trucks pulling trailers alongside two smaller passenger vehicles.

Immediate reports indicate that two individuals operating the massive freight vehicles and one person inside a standard car did not survive the horrific scene. The Woodford County Coroner’s Office has since confirmed the identities of these victims: Casey Whitlock, who was 50 years old and from Paris; Matthew Jackson, aged 43 and originally from Cincinnati; and John McBroon, who was 39 and from Crittenden.

Further details show that two other people involved in the vehicles were harmed and were taken to a medical facility for care, along with one driver from a truck. State police have indicated that the reasons behind this devastating crash remain under examination, with no clear explanation yet provided.

To address the aftermath, authorities had to shut down the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 for a period, and it was not until more than twelve hours later that the road was fully cleared and traffic resumed normal flow.

The Versailles Police Department has requested that state experts conduct a detailed analysis of the crash to understand what went wrong.
