Fatal Hall County car crash death of Alex Munoz
The fatal collision on Highway 281 occurred near Grand Island on Wednesday. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased as 32-year-old Alex Munoz from Hastings.
Emergency services were dispatched to a multi-vehicle incident on Highway 281 after receiving notification from Diamond Truck Wash, situated just north of Interstate 80. A 2021 Freightliner truck was proceeding northbound when it lost directional control, crossed into the opposing lane, and collided with a southbound 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck on its driver’s side.
Munoz was confirmed as the operator of the damaged pickup truck. The driver of the Freightliner truck is a 35-year-old man from Grand Island.
An official investigation is underway, with an accident reconstruction team examining the crash scene. An autopsy has been scheduled.
At this preliminary stage of the investigation, no traffic citations have been distributed.
