Fatal Akron shooting death of Joshua C. Walker
Law enforcement received a report of gunfire in the 1200 block of Sylvan Avenue around midday on September 13. Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office investigator Gary Guenther officially identified the deceased individual, a young adult male, as Joshua C. Walker.
Prior to the reported incident, Walker had been issued a legal restriction by police and sheriff’s deputies approximately 30 minutes earlier. This order prohibited his presence at the specific residence. Despite this prohibition, Walker allegedly returned to the area after the officers departed and gained entry by breaking a window.
Inside the home, which was occupied by a 25-year-old man and his mother, Walker became involved in an altercation. According to available information, Walker made threats against the residents. In response, the 25-year-old man discharged his weapon multiple times, resulting in fatal injuries to Walker.
The Akron Police Department continues its investigation into the incident.
