San Jose authorities stated that the suspect, a 27-year-old man from the city, was taken into custody on Wednesday. This capture occurred after law enforcement conducted a search for him. Records show the suspect had a 2019 arrest connected to a prior shooting incident.

Emergency services responded to reports of gunfire and a distressed female voice near the 200 block of Chynoweth Avenue before dawn on Tuesday. The initial report arrived just before 12:30 a.m. Tragically, three individuals were found shot during this early morning disturbance. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Medical personnel transported the other two survivors to a hospital, but their conditions deteriorated fatally. The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) characterized the event as isolated, indicating no broader security concerns for the public.

Mayor Matt Mahan expressed grief over the incident, describing it as heartbreaking not only for the victims’ families but also for the city’s workforce. The housing department is receiving counseling services for its employees in response to the tragedy. This incident represents the 19th, 20th, and 21st homicides recorded in San Jose this year.
