Law enforcement officials in South Carolina have confirmed the deaths of an elderly couple discovered in their front yard. The man and woman, both aged 84 years, were pronounced deceased following injuries sustained from being shot.
According to reports, the bodies of Webster Stanley Jones and his wife, Catherine Knight Jones, were found near the entrance of their residence on Wingate Road, in the Gantt community, shortly after dawn on the morning of September 17th. The initial discovery was prompted by a 911 call that was terminated by the caller once emergency services were alerted.
Responding deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and discovered signs of a shooting incident. Both victims were found with at least one wound each, resulting from gunfire. While a weapon was secured at the location, authorities have not yet identified the individual responsible for the shooting or the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
The couple’s identities were confirmed by local media, with records indicating they resided at the address where the incident occurred.
