The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has officially recognized the remains of an 18-year-old woman as Angelina Plase. The young woman was identified after her body was found floating in a canal following her ejection from a motorcycle during a series of collisions that also left three others injured.
Investigators from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office reported that law enforcement personnel initially responded to a request for assistance in locating Plase near NW 72 Avenue and NW 58 Street. Detectives searched the specified area late on Sunday, September 14th, but were unable to find any trace of the missing person. The following day, Monday, September 15th, officers returned to the location when they observed what appeared to be a body in the canal. Further examination by authorities revealed that the incident began with a vehicle collision occurring at NW 74 Avenue and NW 58 Street. According to the Sheriff’s Office, one occupant exited the vehicle to assess the condition of the driver from another car. The remaining passengers then left their own vehicle and fled. Shortly after this initial collision, the same vehicle was involved in a second accident on the Northbound ramp connecting SR 826 and NW 58 Street. Following this second crash, the occupants abandoned the vehicle, fled on foot, and coordinated with a friend who was operating a motorcycle.
After the motorcycle incident, multiple law enforcement sources indicated that the motorcycle accident resulted in the ejection of all four riders. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue provided emergency medical services, transporting three individuals to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The fourth passenger, identified as the deceased Angelina Plase, was confirmed to be the missing person whose remains were found.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has not publicly disclosed the identities of the three injured individuals. The ongoing investigation is being handled by the office’s traffic homicide detectives.
