Nerissa Lee dies in fatal Berwyn shooting.

Fatal Berwyn shooting death of Nerissa Lee.

A thorough inquiry is now active following the deaths of three people in a shooting event outside a middle school in Illinois yesterday. It has been reported that the school’s assistant principal was among the victims.

Law enforcement officials in Berwyn have stated that this incident is being treated as a case of domestic violence. People familiar with the assistant principal recall her as someone dedicated to supporting students. Following the tragic loss of their assistant principal, Nerissa Lee, the students and staff at Lincoln Middle School are currently experiencing grief. She was one of three fatalities discovered directly outside the school yesterday, an event police are labeling a domestic violence shooting. This loss is deeply felt across the community.

Ena Laubis, a former student, expressed, “I don’t want the positive work she did here as a teacher for the students and for the staff to go unnoticed because she was truly a very kind individual.” Laubis, who graduated years ago, stated that Nerissa Lee consistently provided care for her. “She would offer students extra food if they were still hungry and she would keep food for students later in the day if they were hungry,” Laubis explained.

Police investigations continue into the shooting, which took place immediately outside the middle school. According to officers, upon arriving at the scene late yesterday afternoon, they found a man inside a car who was still actively shooting. This gunfire is believed to have killed Nerissa Lee and one other individual. Police reports indicate the suspect was also found dead inside the vehicle, apparently having shot himself. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 54-year-old Steven Lee as one of the deceased. Residents confirmed he was the husband of the assistant principal; the couple had been living in Broadview for the past five years.

Chris Dotson, a neighbor of Nerissa Lee, commented, “I am in complete shock. This community has always been family-oriented, with everyone supporting each other, so this is a significant shock and a major loss for everyone here.”

The identity of the third individual who died has not been officially released.
