Charlotte-Mecklenburg law enforcement officials have identified a man who was killed in a violent incident occurring near a shopping district in the eastern part of the city.
Police confirmed that Tavares Phifer was pronounced deceased at the scene, with another female individual sustaining injuries, as reported on Tuesday along Albemarle Road.
Healthcare providers reported that the woman involved is in a critical state, requiring immediate medical attention.
Law enforcement sources indicate that the suspect, Francisco Aldair Lopez-Tadeo, who is also known by the nickname El Sobrino, was observed to have approached the victims from behind and discharged firearms.
Prosecutors have proceeded to file charges against Lopez-Tadeo, including counts of murder and an attempt to murder.
