The Allen County Coroner’s Office announced the identity of a man who lost his life in a pedestrian collision in downtown Fort Wayne on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at the intersection of South Clinton and East Baker streets, close to the downtown United States Postal Service facility. The coroner attributed the death to an accidental incident.

Law enforcement reported the accident took place shortly before 5:45 p.m. under rainy weather conditions. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided medical aid to the individual, who was transported to a regional healthcare provider. Regrettably, the patient did not survive the injuries sustained in the accident.

Investigators detailed that the deceased was attempting to cross Clinton Street using a wheelchair when he was impacted by a motor vehicle. The weather played a role, with heavy rain recorded at the time of the collision. The person driving the car remained at the scene and willingly supplied information to police.

Tyran Dwayne McMillian, described as a local resident of Fort Wayne, was identified as the victim. The coroner’s determination indicated the incident was an unfortunate accident. McMillian’s passing represents the 34th recorded traffic fatality in Allen County this particular year.
