Fatal Victorville car crash death of Rosa Lidia Ceron Escobar

San Bernardino County officials have confirmed the identity of Rosa Lidia Ceron Escobar, a 47-year-old resident of Victorville. She lost her life when the vehicle she was traveling in was struck from behind by another car driven by an alleged drunk driver, an incident that occurred last week.

The preliminary investigation indicates Escobar was a passenger in an eastbound Buick Lacrosse, which had stopped at a junction. The fatal collision happened around 4:20 a.m. on Friday, September 19th, at the intersection of Mojave Drive and Sixth Street. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s department, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The individual driving the Buick Lacrosse, who was Escobar’s husband, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. Deputies identified the suspect as 19-year-old Luis Eduardo Nolasco from Barstow. They arrested Nolasco after determining he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Prosecutors have since filed charges against Nolasco, including accusations of murder, driving under the influence (both alcohol and drugs), and specific enhancements related to causing significant harm and speeding during the DUI incident. On September 23rd, Nolasco entered a plea of not guilty to these charges in a San Bernardino County Superior Court. Bail has been set at zero, meaning he is being held without release. A preliminary hearing for the case is expected to take place on October 6th.
