Investigators are examining this case following the discovery of a missing woman’s body inside a car on Sunday. The incident occurred in the area of Wichita, Kansas.
The Wichita Police Department received a formal report about the missing person late Saturday afternoon. Police stated the disappearance was reported under conditions viewed as suspicious, leading to the involvement of homicide investigators that evening.
The missing woman, identified as 43-year-old Rachel Johnson from Wichita, had not been seen by her family since Friday morning. According to reports, she was last known to be driving a black 2014 Ford Fusion at that time.
Search efforts continued on Sunday when investigators received directions to a house located in the 1800 block of S. Longford Circle. Inside the property, officers found the vehicle matching the description previously provided. Tragically, Johnson’s lifeless body was discovered inside.
Further investigation revealed officers found a 39-year-old male resident inside the basement area. He was pronounced dead from injuries apparently caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities indicated there were indications Johnson and the man had a history of a domestic relationship prior to this incident.
