PHOENIX — A man has died following a confrontation and shooting incident at a Phoenix intersection this past Saturday afternoon, according to local authorities.
The Phoenix Police Department received reports of a shooting at the intersection of Missouri Avenue and 7th Street around 2:15 p.m. The responding officers found a man, later identified as 54-year-old Stephen Guardino, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services transported Guardino to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The woman involved in the incident remained at the scene and was interviewed by law enforcement before being released “pending further investigation.”
DETAILED ACCOUNT OF THE PHOENIX INTERSECTION SHOOTING
Investigators working the scene determined that Guardino was driving when he stopped his vehicle and exited to confront an adult woman who was also in a car at the location.
Upon approaching her vehicle, the woman drew a weapon and fired it at Guardino.
Following her questioning by police, the woman was allowed to leave the scene pending “additional investigation” into the incident.
This case is currently under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department. At this time, no further information regarding the incident has been provided to the public.
