A local emergency official from Smith County confirmed that four adults were declared deceased at the accident location, which was situated close to FM 2767 on State Highway 31. Responders found the fatalities upon their arrival at the scene.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that one automobile was moving east on State Highway 31 East and unintentionally crossed into the opposite lane, leading to a severe head-on collision. This vehicle contained three young men, whose identities are Alejandro Julian Martinez, age 19; Jonathan Josue Perez, age 20; and David Morales Ramos, age 21.
The second car was being operated by a 40-year-old man named Nicholas Colby Sanders. A justice official from Smith County Precinct 4 verified that all four individuals were originally from Kilgore.
A Kilgore school district representative stated that the victims had ties to families within the district, but none were current attendees or employees. The district informed its staff about the incident and mentioned that counseling services are available for students and employees.
Emergency personnel noted that traffic directed eastbound on Highway 31 is being redirected to County Road 245 North.
