Alvino Ray Arambulo dies in fatal Bakersfield car crash
Fatal Bakersfield car crash death of Alvino Ray Arambulo
The Kern County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the individual killed in a hit-and-run event near Union Avenue here two weeks ago. Alvino Ray Arambulo, a 48-year-old man, was the pedestrian involved in the incident.
According to the authorities, Arambulo was walking outside of a designated crosswalk, specifically north of the intersection of Bernard Street and Union Avenue in Bakersfield, at approximately 10:20 p.m. on September 15th. At that time, he was struck by a motor vehicle.
Tragically, while Arambulo was still lying in the roadway, a second vehicle collided with him, as reported by the Bakersfield Police Department.
Officials at the scene confirmed that Arambulo did not survive the injuries he sustained and was pronounced deceased before emergency services could transport him to a medical facility.
The initial driver involved in striking Mr. Arambulo chose to remain at the location to assist with the ongoing investigation. Law enforcement indicated there were no indications of impairment affecting this first driver’s operation of the vehicle. Additionally, preliminary findings suggest that excessive speed was not a contributing factor to the first collision.
The second driver involved in the incident is currently unidentified. They are understood to have fled the scene of the accident.
Investigators are currently seeking to determine the identity of this second driver and are looking into the possibility that their vehicle was a Honda Civic, which appeared to be a silver or light-colored two-door coupe. There is evidence suggesting damage to the front bumper of this Honda model.
