Union Township officials have confirmed the identity of the individual struck and killed by a motor vehicle the previous day. The person involved was George Helms, a resident of Union Township who was 76 years of age.
Official sources from Berks County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death occurred at Reading Hospital, with medical personnel determining Helms was deceased by approximately noon. An official statement was issued by the medical facility.
Investigators continue to examine the events surrounding the collision. The incident took place shortly after 11:00 a.m. along Hay Creek Road, specifically in the area numbered 3000 block, close to the Geigertown Post Office.
