Fatal Pontoon Beach Car Crash Deaths of Jody M. Rinderer and Victoria L. Goss
The Pontoon Beach authorities have officially confirmed that two individuals lost their lives following a serious vehicular accident on Illinois State Route 162. Madison County’s Coroner, Nicholas P. Novacich, identified the deceased persons as Jody M. Rinderer, aged 47, and Victoria L. Goss, aged 32, both residents of Granite City. The incident happened on the evening of September 19th, 2025, at approximately 7:36 p.m. in the 5000 block of State Route 162.
Coroner Novacich released the identification details on Monday, September 29th, 2025. According to the investigation report, Rinderer was driving a maroon 2003 Chevrolet Silverado during the collision. Tragically, this vehicle caught fire after the impact. The coroner mentioned that Rinderer was alone in the car and was identified through the presence of a tattoo.
Victoria L. Goss was driving a 2017 blue Buick Enclave at the time of the crash. The car suffered significant damage to its front section. Following the accident, Goss was reported to be conscious and was transported to an emergency medical facility by ambulance services. However, she later succumbed to her injuries at Gateway Regional Medical Center.
A young passenger, whose age is not disclosed, from Goss’s vehicle was airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis for treatment. The current health status of this minor is not specified.
Both victims are subjects of ongoing forensic examination and toxicological testing, with the preliminary findings not yet available.
The Pontoon Beach Police Department has enlisted the expertise of the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit to assist in the comprehensive investigation into the incident. This collaborative effort is being conducted by local law enforcement and the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
Organizations have been notified regarding the final disposition matters. Central Cremation Center in Forsyth has been informed about the arrangements for Jody M. Rinderer. Irwin Chapel in Granite City has been notified regarding the arrangements for Victoria L. Goss.
