Fatal Pontoon Beach car crash deaths of Jody M. Rinderer and Victoria L. Goss

The Madison County Coroner’s Office officially identified the two people killed in a September 19th crash on Illinois Route 162 near Pontoon Beach. Jody M. Rinderer, who was 47 and lived in Granite City, and Victoria L. Goss, who was 32 and also resided in Granite City, were the drivers of the two vehicles involved. A juvenile passenger from Goss’ car was transported to a hospital located in the St. Louis area, but their condition was unknown.

The collision happened around 7:36 p.m. on September 19th. Rinderer was operating a 2003 Maroon Chevrolet Silverado, while Goss was driving a 2017 Buick Enclave. The vehicles crashed head-on in the 5000 block of Illinois Route 162. Following the crash, the Silverado vehicle caught fire.

Goss was conscious immediately after the accident and was taken to Gateway Regional Medical Center. Regrettably, she later passed away there. Rinderer’s fatal injuries were the direct result of the collision.

The Pontoon Beach Police Department, along with the Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Coroner’s Office, are continuing to investigate the incident.

Central Cremation Center in Forsyth, Illinois, has been entrusted with the arrangements for Rinderer’s funeral. Irwin Chapel in Granite City is handling the funeral plans for Goss.
