Montgomery County law enforcement confirmed that an elderly woman from Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away following a severe multi-vehicle collision. This incident involved three cars and resulted in a dramatic loss of control and overturning. The unfortunate event was reported to authorities later in the day.

According to details from the Montgomery County police department, Josephine Gieske was a passenger in a red 2011 Toyota 4-Runner. The crash occurred on August 7th at the intersection of Randolph Road and Sherwood Forest Drive. It began when a silver 2025 Toyota GR86, traveling westbound, collided with the 4-Runner, which was making a left turn from eastbound Randolph Road onto Sherwood Forest Drive.

The collision caused the SUV to roll violently and subsequently crash into a black 2025 Buick Envista. Josephine Gieske was immediately taken to a nearby medical facility with multiple severe injuries. Regrettably, she later succumbed to these wounds on August 22nd. Additionally, the driver of the 4-Runner sustained serious harm and was also transported to the hospital for treatment.
