Fatal Cleveland shooting death of Zai Vyon Frederick Ocie Jackson
Cleveland authorities reported the tragic death early Sunday morning of the 21-year-old Zai Vyon Frederick Ocie Jackson. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene following shots fired near the Punch Bowl Social bar situated at 1086 W. 11th St. in the Flats area around 2:30 a.m., as confirmed by the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office personnel.
When law enforcement personnel, completing their bar-closing duties, received reports of gunfire, they located Jackson outside the bar premises. Medical aid was administered by responding officers until paramedic services arrived and officially declared the end of Jackson’s life.
A separate 24-year-old male, identified by police as a suspect in the incident, was attended to at the crime location and transported to a medical institution. Sgt. Wilfredo Diaz, representing the Cleveland police department, indicated that the matter of filing charges against this individual is still under consideration and lacks immediate resolution.
According to information gathered by investigators, the gunfire incident is currently understood to have originated from a disagreement between two individuals.
