Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle, a distinguished Auburn University veterinary professor emerita, passed away in fatal Auburn assault circumstances.

This tragic incident occurred within Kiesel Park over the weekend. According to recent reports, Auburn police are examining this death as a homicide. The Opelika-Auburn News reported that law enforcement had apprehended a person of interest connected to the investigation by Sunday afternoon.
The victim was identified by the Lee County Coroner’s Office earlier in the week. Medical pronouncements indicated Dr. Schnuelle was pronounced deceased at the location on Saturday at 2:07 p.m.
Dr. Schnuelle, who was 59 years of age, held the position of professor emerita within Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Her retirement was noted to have taken place in 2021. The body was discovered in a wooded section of the park. Preliminary findings suggested the victim had suffered injuries consistent with an assault.
