The Union County Coroner’s Office confirmed responding to a fatal accident Tuesday evening. Arriving at approximately 11:45 p.m., the medical examiner went to the location at the intersection of Monarch Highway and Beltline Road. The individual who lost their life was identified as Daunté Scott Gist, a 23-year-old. According to official reports, Gist was operating a Kia Santa Fe vehicle heading south on Beltline Road when the incident occurred.
