A 19-year-old man identified as Guillermo Martinez Gallego lost his life in a serious accident that happened at Mendon Ponds Park on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. on Hopkins Point Road.
Deputy David Marcucci reported that emergency responders discovered a vehicle that had gone off the road and struck a tree. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered the car completely surrounded by flames. After successfully extinguishing the fire, authorities found the driver deceased inside the vehicle.
The identity of the driver was confirmed as Guillermo Martinez Gallego, who was a resident of Pittsford. It has not been made public whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
Sheriff’s deputies are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact reason for the crash. At this time, law enforcement has stated that the road has been cleared for traffic flow.
