SABRINA WALKER dies in fatal DOUGLASVILLE shooting
Fatal DOUGLASVILLE shooting death of SABRINA WALKER
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is examining a fatal domestic altercation and a related law enforcement encounter that took place Saturday evening in Douglasville. Officials reported receiving notification of the incident.
Preliminary reports indicate Douglasville Police were dispatched shortly after 9:27 p.m. on October 4 to a residence on Littlebrook Way due to a reported domestic conflict. Upon their arrival, responders located a female sufferer lying injured in the backyard and a male nearby.
This male, later confirmed as 51-year-old Volanta Lejuan Walker, was reported to be holding a firearm. Law enforcement personnel instructed him to relinquish the weapon, but investigators state Walker declined and aimed the gun towards officers. One officer discharged their weapon, resulting in Walker’s death. Emergency medical technicians provided initial care before transporting him to a hospital for treatment. No officers sustained injuries.
The individual found on the ground was identified as 56-year-old Sabrina Walker, the spouse of Volanta Walker. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. According to investigators, the couple had reportedly argued inside the dwelling prior to Volanta Walker pursuing his wife outdoors and shooting her.
Sabrina Walker’s remains were transported to the GBI Crime Lab for a postmortem examination.
The GBI is currently pursuing two independent investigations. One is focused on Sabrina Walker’s demise, while the other examines the officer-involved shooting. Upon completion, the officer-involved incident will be forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for assessment. The homicide case is also scheduled for formal review with legal proceedings anticipated.
