On the morning of September 13th, a severe multi-vehicle accident claimed the life of one individual. According to reports from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, four other people sustained injuries in this collision that happened on U.S. Highway 72, situated near Gurley.
Walter Stephens III, identified as the operator of a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon, incurred serious injuries when his car collided head-on with two other vehicles. Stephens was transported to Huntsville Hospital, but he ultimately did not survive and passed away on October 2nd.
The occupants of one of the struck vehicles, including a baby, were hurt and were taken to the same hospital for treatment. First responders provided care to these individuals upon their arrival.
The second driver involved in the crash was also treated at Huntsville Hospital due to the extent of their injuries.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is conducting a full investigation into the causes of this incident.
