The fatal shooting took place shortly after midnight on Sunday at Hideaway Events on Garden Bassett Road. According to Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas, approximately 300 individuals were attending the rented event space when the gunfire erupted. Sheriff Thomas stated that everyone present evacuated the venue immediately. Deputies arrived at the scene and discovered Lucas deceased near the main entrance of the building. The ongoing investigation has yet to result in any arrests. The venue attracted attendees from various locations across the state, including Birmingham and Mobile.
