Marcus Steinman dies in fatal Topsham car crash
Fatal Topsham car crash victim Marcus Steinman
A collision on Route 196 near the Merrymeeting Bridge claimed the life of Marcus Steinman, a 23-year-old from Topsham. The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 10:38 p.m. Topsham police reported that a 2020 GMC pickup truck and a 2019 Volvo SUV were involved in the head-on accident. According to the preliminary investigation, one vehicle crossed the centerline before the crash, but authorities have not yet determined which driver was at fault.
Marcus Steinman, the passenger in the Volvo, was transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. Despite medical efforts, he later passed away due to his injuries. The driver of the GMC pickup, Joseph Lemont, a 34-year-old from Bowdoin, and the driver of the Volvo, Lacey Wiles, a 25-year-old from Hermon, were both taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. As of Monday morning, there were no updates regarding their conditions.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Topsham Police Department, who stated they are withholding further details at this time.
