Fatal downtown Los Angeles shooting death of Miquel Luque

A 56-year-old man, Miquel Luque, has been identified as the victim of a shooting that took place in the city’s downtown area. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Monday near the intersection of Fifth and Main streets.

The Office of Medical Examiner confirmed that Luque, whose residential address was not immediately available, died from injuries sustained on a sidewalk. The cause of death was a gunshot wound located to his right upper back and neck.

Police identified the suspect involved in the shooting as a 27-year-old male named Isaiah Gregory Springs. Following the incident, Springs was observed by officers from the LAPD Central Division. He fled the scene, triggering a pursuit. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the suspect running north on Main Street towards Spring and Fourth streets while armed, which prompted officers to fire less lethal ammunition.

Isaiah Gregory Springs was eventually apprehended and placed into custody. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department provided initial medical treatment before transporting the suspect to a hospital. The motive behind this shooting has not been officially released by authorities.
