CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — Following the initiation of a death investigation near UNC-Chapel Hill following the discovery of a man, local law enforcement has confirmed the identity of the individual.
Town of Chapel Hill authorities announced Friday that police personnel had identified the man found earlier in the week as 53-year-old Charles Murray Williams, Jr.
According to prior reports, emergency responders located the individual unconscious on Franklin Street during a routine patrol operation on Thursday.
The ongoing official inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Williams’ demise has indicated that the situation does not currently appear to involve any criminal activity. However, definitive conclusions regarding the cause of death remain pending.
