Fatal Schererville car crash death of Ronald T. Jones
The untimely passing resulted from a head-on collision in Schererville that occurred on Saturday morning. The unfortunate incident happened at the intersection of Route 30 and Austin. The correctional officer was operating his vehicle when another car crashed into it from the opposite direction. Medical personnel airlifted the injured officer to a Chicago-area hospital, but he unfortunately did not survive his injuries.
Lake County authorities have officially identified the victim as Ronald T. Jones, a 58-year-old man with over eight years of service as a correctional officer at the Lake County Jail. Tragically, this fatal event transpired while Officer Jones was off-duty. The driver of the other car involved in the incident was reported to have fled the scene on foot. Law enforcement is indicating that the Schererville Police Department is spearheading the ongoing investigation into this devastating crash. Mr. Jones is survived by his two adult children.
