Sherri D. Horan dies in fatal Bloomington fire
Fatal Bloomington fire death of Sherri D.
On the evening of Thursday, October 9, a 58-year-old female was pronounced deceased following a fire at her mobile home located in Bloomington. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the deceased as Sherri D. Horan. Additionally, during the tragic incident, one of her dogs was unfortunately lost.
Fire Department engineers, including Ryan Beckers, confirmed that the home lacked operational smoke alarms. The initial report of the blaze occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the 10000 block of Laurel Avenue. Fire crews discovered the property engulfed in flames, situated amidst scattered debris, machinery, and other vehicles along a lengthy driveway. To access the residence, firefighters had to breach the structure and found Sherri D. Horan in a rear bedroom. Medical personnel confirmed her death at the scene.
Two of the victim’s dogs were fortunately located alive outside the burning home. According to reports, no firefighters were injured during the operation.
Investigators with the Fire Department stated that the fire likely started in nearby debris and subsequently spread to the mobile home. However, the precise cause of the ignition is still under examination. Fortunately, the blaze was brought under control within approximately 25 minutes by the responding teams.
While it remains unclear how navigating the debris affected the response time, Ryan Beckers issued a strong recommendation to residents: maintain clear property surroundings to ensure swift access in emergencies. He emphasized, “Keeping a clear path to the outside is not just essential for emergency responders but also for your own safety.”
