Fatal Jefferson County car crash death of Erica Nicole Austin
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office officially identified the deceased female as Erica Nicole Austin this week, confirming she was thirty-two years old and a resident of Birmingham.
The fatal collision transpired at approximately 6:32 a.m. on Friday in the Pinson Valley Parkway vicinity, specifically the 4800 block area.
According to information relayed by Center Point Fire District Chief Brandon Dahlen, the crash involved a car colliding with a dump truck.
Emergency services pronounced Erica Nicole Austin deceased at the scene shortly after the incident, at around 6:46 a.m.
Center Point Fire personnel provided medical care and subsequently transported the injured child to Children’s of Alabama hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the dump truck involved in the accident was not reported to be injured.
The accident led to the shutdown of the affected roadway segment, causing significant traffic delays lasting several hours.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the crash through its Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
