Fatal Murfreesboro shooting death of Kentrell London
Special Operations Unit officers from the Murfreesboro Police Department apprehended a seventeen-year-old male on Friday evening, October 10th, who was being sought for involvement in a deadly shooting that took place on Thursday, October 9th. The capture occurred late on Friday night after an extended 11-hour standoff at a home on East Castle Street.
Murfreesboro Police Special Operations Unit officers arrived at the East Castle Street residence on Friday around noon to serve a warrant for first-degree murder. The seventeen-year-old suspect barricaded himself inside the house, forcing officers to utilize various non-lethal methods in an attempt to detain him without resorting to violence.
During the tense confrontation, the suspect reportedly damaged three drones that were inside the residence. Ultimately, the suspect was taken into custody at 11:44 p.m. following officers’ entry into the dwelling and discovery of the suspect concealed within.
The murder charge against the seventeen-year-old stems from a shooting incident that happened on North Academy Street on Thursday evening around 9 p.m. According to investigators, the seventeen-year-old and several other individuals engaged in a conflict with Kentrell London, a 26-year-old man. Approximately thirty minutes later, the teenager allegedly returned to the scene and shot London on the front porch, resulting in his death.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
