Fatal Marlboro car crash death of Sherril Sakas
Officials are examining the circumstances surrounding a fatal car accident that resulted in the death of a 70-year-old woman from Totowa. The incident happened on Saturday morning when she was struck while crossing Route 9.
Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago’s office reported the collision took place at approximately 7:33 a.m. near the intersection of Route 9 and County Route 520. Investigators stated that Sakas was crossing from the southbound to the northbound lanes of the highway when she was hit by a Honda CR-V.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the CR-V stayed at the location and provided information to the authorities.
The investigation is being handled by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the county’s Serious Collision Analysis Response Team, and the Marlboro Township Police Department.
