Philadelphia police announced the arrest of a 27-year-old man from East Oak Lane, charging him with murder following the death of an off-duty firefighter. Isaac Zayas, 27, was arrested and accused of related crimes in the Oct. 15, 2025, death of 56-year-old Antonio Rodriguez. Rodriguez was killed at a home on Shelmire Avenue.
Police stated that Isaac Zayas was taken into custody without issue at the scene after responding to a disturbance report at approximately 3:51 a.m. on Wednesday. When officers confronted Zayas at the location, he told them, “I had fatally attacked my uncle.” Police also mentioned that they initially did not see any apparent injuries on Rodriguez. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene around 4:13 a.m. on Wednesday. Police confirmed an ongoing investigation.
