Fatal Jackson shooting death of Ebanee Williams
The death toll from the recent downtown incident has climbed to seven. It is reported that Ebanee Williams, aged 25, succumbed to her wounds stemming from the earlier October event.
Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard officially announced Williams’ passing due to injuries received during the widespread shooting that resulted in six other fatalities.
Further details indicate Williams was receiving medical attention at the University of Mississippi Medical Center since the time of the shooting. She passed away late Thursday evening.
Her case has been transferred back to the Washington County Coroner’s jurisdiction.
Howard stated that Williams’ body would be forwarded to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s office for additional examination via autopsy.
The ongoing investigation into the October 11th incident continues. This occurred shortly after midnight, following the conclusion of the Leland High School Homecoming football game.
Preliminary findings suggest investigators are examining a potential conflict among individuals as the probable catalyst for the mass shooting.
Officials have apprehended nine individuals in connection with the incident.
The identities and charges for five of the suspects have been disclosed:
Teviyon L. Powell, age 29, is charged with Capital Murder.
William Bryant, age 29, is charged with Capital Murder.
Morgan Latimore, age 25, is charged with Capital Murder.
Terrogernal S. Martin, age 33, is charged with Capital Murder.
Latoya A. Powell, age 44, is charged with Attempted Murder.
Information regarding the remaining four suspects is currently unavailable.
Law enforcement is offering a monetary incentive of five thousand dollars to encourage citizens to provide any information that could lead to the identification of those responsible.
