The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reported that three individuals were killed and two others were injured during a shooting incident in the early morning hours of Friday. The event occurred inside a residence located in the Cedar Creek Cove neighborhood.
Officials stated that the victims found deceased, Kimberly Simpson aged 51, Connie Patrick aged 72, and Ronny Hammonds aged 57, all suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy revealed Hammonds also had injuries from blunt force trauma and multiple stab wounds.
Two other people, identified as Colton Reid, 24, and Henry Hopgood, 70, were transported to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries. According to the sheriff’s office updates, Reid’s health is reported as stable, but Hopgood remains in critical condition.
Separately, Christopher Kyle Reid Jr., 29, from Hubbard, was identified as the suspect. Sheriff’s information indicates he allegedly drove a vehicle into a Bucc-ee’s location in Ennis around 5 a.m., striking a pedestrian, before turning the weapon on himself.
The suspect was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Preliminary investigations suggest Reid Jr. may have some connection to the victims, though this relationship has not been officially confirmed by authorities.
