Fatal Sarpy County car crash death of Lismary Cocho de la Paz

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the tragic death of a 32-year-old woman following a series of collisions on Tuesday evening. The first incident occurred at an intersection near 162nd Avenue and Harrison Street. According to investigators, Lismary Cocho de la Paz was driving a Nissan Murano eastbound on Harrison Street when another vehicle, a Chrysler Town and Country driven by Zakari Abdoulaye, approached trying to turn left from northbound 162nd Avenue onto Harrison Street.

Officials stated that these two motor vehicles collided within the intersection. Following this initial crash, Ms. Cocho de la Paz remained outside her disabled vehicle assessing the situation. Tragically, another eastbound driver, operating an Audi Q5, struck the rear of her stationary vehicle, which was still positioned inside the intersection. Charles Curley was identified as the driver of the Audi Q5.

Emergency responders arrived to find Lismary Cocho de la Paz receiving emergency treatment from bystanders who had initiated CPR until medical professionals arrived. Despite the continued efforts at the hospital, the 32-year-old woman was pronounced deceased shortly after being transported to a local medical facility.

The driver of the Audi Q5, Charles Curley, was transported to the same medical facility but was reported to be in serious condition following the incident. Sheriff’s Office investigations determined that Zakari Abdoulaye had departed the scene after the first collision and was subsequently located at his workplace.

The authorities stated that preliminary investigations did not indicate any involvement of alcohol or controlled substances in either of the separate collision incidents. The Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking any additional information from the public regarding the events and has provided a contact number, 402-593-2288, for anyone who may have witnessed the incidents or possess further details.
