Manhattan authorities reported that a severe vehicle collision took place on Friday evening, approximately 30 minutes after 7 p.m. The Will County Coroner’s Office subsequently confirmed that a 35-year-old woman from Aurora had been identified among the fatalities.

Officials from the Coroner’s Office stated that Tejaswi Patha was a passenger in the van involved in the accident with a large truck. She was pronounced deceased at 9:50 p.m.

Manhattan fire services informed that the crash occurred at the junction of Route 50 and County Line Road around 7:35 p.m. According to initial reports, multiple individuals were confined within one of the vehicles following the impact.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found substantial damage to both the van and the semi-trailer. Tragically, seven people were trapped inside the smaller vehicle.

Firefighters managed to free those individuals from the wreckage. Out of the six occupants transported to nearby medical facilities, two were in serious condition. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Later, another critical patient passed away in the hospital.

A minor was airlifted to a specialized children’s hospital in Chicago. The current status of the remaining individuals involved in the incident remains unclear.
